Paul Schumacher

Executive Director

Paul Schumacher has been the Executive Director at SMPDC since 1996. Prior to that he worked as a Town Planner in several southern Maine towns and also at a consulting firm on Cape Cod. Paul has a B.A. from the University of New Hampshire and a Master's Degree in Urban/Environmental Policy from Tufts University. His professional interests revolve around creating healthy communities and including all relevant interest groups from social service organizations to economic developers to environmentalists in the discussion of what that community should be. He likes kayaking and touring Maine with his wife Rachel and son Ryder.

Chuck Morgan

Economic and Community Development Director

Chuck has been working in the fields of Economic and Community Development for over 25 years.  He has an undergraduate degree in Psychology and was awarded a Master's Degree in Public Administration from the University of Maine at Orono.  Over the past 13 years, Chuck has been involved in numerous economic and community development projects throughout Maine and has worked at the State, regional and local levels of government.  chuck is the point person for SMPDC's economic and community development activities and is the staff liaison to the Southern Maine Economic Development District.  An avid collector of signed books and autographs, Chuck frequently pesters other staff members to find out what well known persons are in the area and can be get their signatures.  He and his wife Marla and daughter Sarah live in Gardner which should qualify him for Maine's longest commuter award.

Lee Jay Feldman

Director of  Land Use and Planning

Lee Jay Feldman comes to SMPDC with experiences such as Director of Planning and Permitting for the City of Auburn, Director of Planning at Sebago Technics in Westbrook and most recently, Principal Planner for the City of Portsmouth, New Hampshire. His professional experiences have been in staffing Planning Boards, Boards of Adjustment, Municipal Liquor Committee, and Historic District Commission. He has managed budgets of over $700,000 and developed and managed budgets for Industrial Park Construction Projects. Lee Jay has worked within the Economic Development as well negotiating positions for development agreements and Tax Increment Financing Districts.

Tom Reinauer

Transportation Director

Tom Reinauer has been the Transportation Director at Southern Maine Planning and Development Commission since 1993.  He has a Bachelor's Degree in Community Development from the University of New Hampshire and prior to coming to SMPDC, he worked at the Central New Hampshire Regional Planning Commission.  In addition to serving as a primary staff person to the Kittery Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO), Tom also leads all of the transportation planning efforts in the SMPDC region.  These include several corridor coalitions, the Maine-New Hampshire Traffic Incident Management Committee and planning activities for the region's public transportation services.  Tom lives in Limerick with his family.

Eric Sanderson

Transportation/Land Use Planner

SMPDC wants to welcome their newest hire Eric.  Eric comes to SMPDC from Northeastern Connecticut Council of Governments (NECCOG) in Killingly, CT.  During his time at NECCOG, Eric worked to develop regional plans involving trails, transportation and conservation while providing NECCOG's small towns with maps and other planning services.  He has an undergraduate degree from Stonehill College in Public Administration and Economics and enjoys playing hockey.  Eric currently resides in Falmouth, ME.

Abbie Sherwin

Coastal/Land Use Planner

SMPDC is so excited to have Abbie as part of our team.  Abbie comes to us from the NH Floodplain Management Program. She is an undergraduate of Wheaton College with a M.S. in Natural Resources from UNH.  For two years, Abbie worked as a NOAA Coastal Management Fellow for the Maine Dept. of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry (DACF).  Abbie currently resides in Kittery, ME.

Marian Alexandre

Office Manager

Marian came to SMPDC in September of 2007 with an extensive knowledge of office procedures.  She gained this experience by working at Sanford's Public Works Department, operating Wright Construction: her own trucking business, as well as a operating a computerized bookkeeping service "Computer Services PLUS" since 1992.  She was born in and still resides in Sanford.  While not at SMPDC, Marian stays very busy caring for her three dogs: MoJo, Hoss and Barley.

Ashleigh Tatarcyk

Community Outreach Specialist

Ashleigh was recently hired by SMPDC on a part-time basis to assist staff with publications, meeting facilitations, website and data collection and research.  Ashleigh has a BA from USM in Sustainable Tourism and Hospitality with a concentration in Community Development.  Ashleigh has spent time in Cuba as a Research Assistant, studying Cuba's tourism infrastructure while living aboard the Tall Ship "The Harvey Gamage."  While with GPCOG, she worked on the Portland Food Launch and assisting with organization of other events.
