Public Comment on the Caleb Foundation EPA Brownfields Revolving Loan Fund Project at the former North Berwick Woolen Mill Site located at 40 Canal Street in North Berwick, Maine

The Caleb Foundation has submitted a subgrant request in the amount of $200,000 to SMRPC's EPA Brownfields Revolving Loan Fund. These funds will be used to remediate environmental contamination at the former North Berwick Woolen Mill Site located at 40 Canal Street in North Berwick, Maine. A Community Relations Plan and an Analysis of Cleanup Alternatives has been drafted for this project and submitted to SMRPC. Starting April 21, 2008, SMRPC is receiving public comments on these documents. The information repository on this project, including the environmental assessments, and other environmental information is located at SMRPC's offices and is available for viewing during normal business hours and at other times by appointment. These documents may be viewed during normal business hours (Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm) at SMRPC's office located at 21 Bradeen Street, Suite 304, Springvale, ME 04083. The comment period will run 30 days and end on May 20, 2008. A public meeting on this project will be held on Tuesday, May 6 at 6:30 pm at the North Berwick Town Hall. Coastal Hazard Resiliency Project: SMRPC along with Old Orchard Beach will be hosting to Planners from Old Orchard Beach, Scarborough, Saco and Biddeford a discussion about the State efforts to predict impacts of projected rise in sea level at the Old Orchard Beach Council Chambers, Old Orchard Beach Town Hall on Thursday, April 17, 2008 at 10:30 AM to Noon.
